A silly 2D game of awkward party conversation.
Gazzy Hind Spills The Beans is a 2D, single room game which centres around an awkward conversation between two dads at a party.
This was a collaborative effort, created for Global Game Jam 2024 in response to this year’s theme, “Make me laugh”.
The game was completed within 48 hours and can now be played on itch.io.

What is Global Game Jam?
Global Game Jam is a “game creation event taking place around the globe boasting tens of thousands of participants (jammers) at hundreds of physical and virtual sites in over one hundred countries around the world”.

Game ideation
Our team was formed following conversations about it in our Indie Game and UX Masters cohort Discord group.
After the theme was announced, we met via a Discord call and discussed our ideas.
I initially had an idea relating to imposter syndrome and wondered whether it would be interesting to design a game where the goal was to attempt to blend into your surroundings without being noticed. However, I wasn’t sure how that could relate to the jam theme.
But we talked about the idea and it evolved into something around having to hide after making terrible jokes at a party. Perhaps the jazzy jumper could match some wallpaper in a room and you have to find that to camoflage yourself before the cringe becomes too much to handle?
We settled on the awkward conversation idea because it felt achievable in the 48 hours of time available. We all wanted to adopt a relaxed, casual approach to the jam. None of us wanted to stress or stay up all night.
